Oplan Kaagapay: Bangon Sugbo
Standing beside communities in times of crisis by turning compassion into action and recovery into resilience.
Oplan Kaagapay: Bangon Sugbo is JCI Mandaue’s disaster response and recovery initiative in alignment with JCI Philippines’ Oplan Kaagapay, a nationwide movement focused on providing immediate relief, rehabilitation, and long-term support to communities affected by calamities and emergencies. Rooted in the spirit of solidarity, Kaagapay means “one who stands beside,” reflecting the mission of being a reliable partner to communities during their most difficult moments.
Through this initiative, JCI Mandaue mobilizes resources, volunteers, and partnerships to deliver emergency relief goods, food packs, clean water, medical support, and essential supplies to disaster-stricken families across Cebu and neighboring areas. Beyond immediate aid, Bangon Sugbo also supports community rebuilding, psychosocial assistance, and resilience-building efforts, helping affected families recover and rebuild stronger after typhoons, floods, fires, and other crises. The program also encourages youth and local volunteers to actively participate in disaster preparedness and response, strengthening a culture of service and readiness. More than relief, Oplan Kaagapay: Bangon Sugbo is a commitment that in moments of devastation, no community rises alone.
